Four die, 1121 hospitalised

Four dengue patients died and 1,121 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, report agencies.
The Directorate General of Health Services, or DGHS, said as many as 470 were admitted to hospital in Dhaka among the new dengue patients until Saturday morning.
In addition, 163 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, 25 in the Mymensingh Division, 149 in the Chattogram Division, 112 in the Khulna Division, 44 in the Rajshahi Division, 10 in the Rangpur Division, 2 in the Sylhet Division, and 146 in the Barishal Division.
With the new counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients has reached 48,582 this year. A total of 241 people died among them.
As many as 3,954 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. They include 1,874 in the capital and 2,080 outside Dhaka.
The DGHS has been keeping records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
Since then, a record 321,179 dengue hospitalisations were logged in 2023. The highest 1,705 people also died of the disease that year.
