Meanwhile, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will launch a 'combing operation' to eliminate the Aedes mosquitoes-the carrier of the virus, and their breeding places from today (Tuesday).

Confirming the drive, DNCC Chief Health Officer Brig Gen Md Mominur Rahman Mamun said they divided each ward into 10 sections and each section would be assigned 10 cleaners and an officer who would oversee the activities.

He said the DNCC staff would visit every house in each area during the combing operation and would check for Aedes mosquito larvae in those houses or establishments.

"Actions will be taken if Aedes larvae are found in offices, courts and under-construction buildings even after the first warning," Mominur added.

Meanwhile, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) fined nine building owners Tk 2,28,000 after it found instances of Aedes larvae in their establishments on Monday.
