Government appoints new chiefs for RAB, SB, CID

The government has appointed new heads to three key units of the Bangladesh Police -- the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the Special Branch (SB), and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to a notification issued on Monday by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the reshuffle in the top tiers of the police administration was made by order of the President.
Md Ahsan Habib Palash, now serving as deputy inspector general (DIG) of Chattogram Range, has been appointed director-general of RAB.
Sardar Nurul Amin, additional inspector general of police (AIGP) at the Police Headquarters, has been appointed chief of the Special Branch (SB).
Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, also an additional inspector general at the Police Headquarters, has been appointed to lead the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The notification said the appointments were made to streamline operational leadership of the country's elite force and specialised intelligence units.
