Govt allocates Tk 2.32b for July uprising victims

The government has allocated Tk 2.32 billion for the rehabilitation of families of those killed and people injured during the July uprising, said Disaster Management and Relief Adviser Faruk-E-Azam on Sunday.
Families of the deceased will receive Tk 1.0 million in savings certificates while the injured victims will receive Tk 0.3 million, Tk 0.2 million, or Tk 0.1 million based on the severity of their injuries, the adviser told reporters after a meeting at the ministry's conference room at the Secretariat.
The announcement came amid demonstrations by injured victims of July uprising on Mirpur road in the capital.
The adviser said that a policy for the rehabilitation of the victims' families and the injured is being formulated and they will receive medical treatment round the year as per the policy, reports UNB.
The Finance Ministry has already approved the Tk 2.32 billion allocation for the purpose, he added.
