Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said on Tuesday the government is concerned over the lower employment generation in recent times, for which the number of jobless people increased in the country.
He also described creation of employment in the country as a 'big challenge'.
Mentioning that the majority of the fresh employment is created in the private sector, he said: "If business becomes slower, it creates an impact on employment generation."

Dr. Ahmed was talking to news men after the meetings of two cabinet bodies at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Responding to a query as to whether the government would take measures for creation of more jobs, the adviser said: "We are definitely taking initiatives for employment generation."
He said the Advisers' Council Committee on Government Purchase gave its approval to a project in Sunamganj where roads will be widened, using manual systems instead of hi-tech.
The project will create some jobs for local people, he added.
Dr. Ahmed believes that generation of employment from business and industries is needed much more in the country.
Meanwhile, the Labour Force Survey-2024, conducted by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, revealed that the national unemployment rate stood at 3.66 per cent last year.
Replying to another query about import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from a single source-the United States of America, the finance adviser said the government gave such approval after comparing international prices of the gas in different countries.
"We check prices in the international market.
