Govt employees rally for 5-pt demand, including pay commission

FE REPORT | December 07, 2025 00:00:00

The Bangladesh Government Employees Coordination Council (BGECC) has called upon the government to meet their five-point charter of demands including implementation of pay commission from the next year (1st January 2026).

The council also urged the government to reinstate time scale and selection grade, ensuring cent per cent pension system and forming National Service Commission along with formulating rules for the Secretariat- like appointments.

BGECC leaders were addressing a rally at Abdul Gani Road (Secretariat road) in the capital on Saturday.

They warned the government not to make any delay in realising their five-point demand. Chairman of BGECC Nomanuzzaman at the event said that the government employees have been trying to realise their demands for a long time.

He called upon the government to meet their demands including implementation of pay scale through issuing a circular within their declared time. Otherwise, he warned that they (employees) would announce a tougher programme in future.

Their other demands are: regularising master role and daily basis employees including work charge and contingent paid, providing standard ration, cancelling outsourcing system, appointing vacant posts (revenue), ensuring promotion in block posts and giving the government employees rights to form trade union as per International Labour Organisation ( ILO) Convention section 87 and 98.
