Govt offices, banks timing in Ramadan

February 25, 2025 00:00:00

The government has rearranged the office timing for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan from 9 am to 3:30 pm for all government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous organisations.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

There will be a 15-minute break from 1:15pm to 1:30pm for Zuhr prayers, said the notice.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Bank has set new transaction hours for banks during the holy month of Ramadan.

The banks' transaction hours have been set from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm and banking office time from 9:30 am to 4:0 pm during Ramadan from Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday will be weekly holidays for the bank.

The central bank's Department of Offsite Supervision (DOS) issued a circular in this regard on Monday.

The circular stated that all scheduled banks operating in the country will be open from 9:30 am to 4 pm during the holy month of Ramadan. In between, there will be a break for Zohar prayer from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM.

However, bank transactions can be continued during this break, through internal coordination.

Bank transactions are normally conducted from 10am to 4pm. Bank office hours are from 10 am to 6 pm. The central bank changes the office and  transaction schedule for the month of Ramadan.

The circular said that the schedule will be relapsed to its original status after the holy month of Ramadan.

However, insurance companies, financial institutions, post, railway, hospitals, state-run mills and factories and other emergency service-providing organisations will fix their own office time as per their own laws and considering public interest.

Besides, the Supreme Court will fix the office timing for all courts.
