FE REPORT | January 27, 2026 00:00:00

The 18th four-day Bangladesh International Plastic, Packaging and Printing Industrial Fair-2026 (IPF-26) is set to kick off at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka tomorrow.

A press conference in this regard was held on Monday at the office of the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BPGMEA).

The keynote address was delivered by Samim Ahmed, President of BPGMEA.

It was announced at the press conference that the Commerce Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh, Mahbubur Rahman, will attend the event as the chief guest.

The main theme of this year's fair is "Plastic Uses in Agriculture", highlighting the growing role of plastic products and technologies in enhancing agricultural productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.

Leaders of the BPGMEA also urged the government to provide stronger policy support and enhanced incentives to help expand exports from the sector.

Samim Ahmed further said that the plastic, packaging and printing industries have become an integral part of Bangladesh's industrialization, export growth and overall economic development.

Sectors such as ready-made garments, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce are heavily dependent on these industries.

He further mentioned that IPF-26 is not merely an exhibition, but a comprehensive platform for technology transfer, innovation and investment opportunities.

The fair will showcase modern machinery, advanced technologies and eco-friendly production solutions from both local and international exhibitors, creating new avenues for business networking and collaboration.

Mr. Ahmed expressed optimism that IPF-26 will play a significant role in enhancing the competitiveness of Bangladesh's plastic industry in the global market, accelerating export growth, and strengthening the global presence of the "Made in Bangladesh" brand.

The BPGMEA president also said, "Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. Due to the challenges of a growing population and climate change, there is an increasing need for new and innovative solutions in modern agriculture. One important solution to boosting production is the use of plastics in agriculture".

He also sought the cooperation of the media and cordially invited entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and all industry stakeholders from home and abroad to visit and participate in IPF-26. Three seminars will be held during the fair, focusing on key industry issues. These include "Beyond Recycling: Industrial Symbiosis and the Future of Competitive Manufacturing in Bangladesh," "Packaging Export Potential and Identification," and "Plastic Sector Development Policy in Line with SME Growth Strategy."
