JOF to submit memo to EC for fresh polls

Jatiya Oikya Front (JOF) will submit a memorandum to the Election Commission (EC) and announce programmes demanding fresh elections under a neutral government.

The announcement was made on Monday after the steering committee meeting of the BNP-led JOF at the Chamber Building office of Dr Kamal Hossain in the city's Motijheel area.

Top JOF leaders including Dr Kamal, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, ASM Abdur Rob, Mahmudur Rahman Manna were present there.

Rejecting the polls results, Dr Kamal told the media that the whole nation had observed the drama of farce that the government staged in the name of 11th national election on December 30.

The Awami League government also showed the world how the election system of a sovereign country could be destroyed, he said.

"The JOF leaders including its candidates will submit a memorandum to the EC and also declare its next programmes demanding cancellation of the December 30 polls and holding fresh elections under a neutral government," he said. Responding to a query, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul said: "Rejection is rejection, so there is no question of taking oath by the JOF candidates, who have been declared elected in the so-called election."
