Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Sunday the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations of this year will begin on November 01, reports UNB.

"The JSC and JDC examinations will started from November 01 and end on November 17," the minister said while addressing a press briefing at the Secretariat in the morning.

The examinations will be held simultaneously at 2,734 centers across the country and 24,10,015 students from 28,844 educational institutions will appear for the examinations, he added.

Among the examinees, 20,35,543 will take part under eight Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education across the country while 3,74,472 under the Madrasah Education Board, he added.

"The results will be published within 30 days the examinations", said the Education Minister.

On October 20, Primary and Mass Education Ministry sent a letter to the Education Ministry asking to arrange the JSC and JDC examinations this year.

In light of the National Education Policy, the government took a decision to extend the primary education level up to class VIII from V while the secondary education level to range between class IX and Class XII.

To this end, the Primary and Mass Education Ministry sent a proposal to the Cabinet Division seeking cancellation of the Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinations of class V, Nahid said.

However, the Cabinet Division rejected the proposal saying The PEC and JSC examinations will be held this year as usual, he added.

While asked whether his ministry can arrange the public examinations with a preparation of just eight days, the minister said although it will be a tough task, he will try its best to arrange the examinations in time without any hassle.
