Kashmir India’s ‘internal’ issue

Bangladesh on Wednesday issued a statement clarifying its position on Kashmir.

"Bangladesh maintains that the abrogation of Article 370 by the Indian government is an internal issue of India," the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement.

"Bangladesh has always advocated, as a matter of principle, that maintenance of regional peace and stability, as well as development should be a priority for all countries," said the statement.

The statement came a day after the visit of the Indian external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar.

On Tuesday, after his meeting with the Indian counterpart, foreign minister Dr AK Abdul Momen told reporters that India did not ask for anything from Bangladesh with regard to the Kashmir issue.

But he said Bangladesh believes that Kashmir issue is an internal one of India.
