Lightning strikes killed 10 people on Monday in five districts across the country, report agencies.
The districts are Cumilla, Netrokona, Sunamganj, Kishoreganj, and Chandpur.
The victims in Cumilla include two farmers who died in Muradnagar's Kurbanpur, and two students killed in Barura's Haripur, according to police and witnesses.
Bangara Police Station chief Mahfuzur Rahman said farmers Nikhil Debnath and Jewel, identified by a single name, were working in a paddy field beside a graveyard at Kurbanpur on Monday when lightning struck them and killed them on the spot.
In Barura, several teenagers were flying kites in a field in front of the Karigari Girls High School when a lightning bolt struck Farhad Hossain and Saimon Hossain, both students, killing them.
In Kishoreganj, two farmers and a woman were killed in two separate incidents of lightning strikes in the district.
The victims are Fulesha Begum, 65, wife of the late Ashrab Ali, a resident of Raniganj Kewarjor area of Mithamoin upazila, and farmers Indrajit Das, 36, son of the late Jatindra Das of Halalpur village, and Swadhin Mia, 14, son of Idris Mia of Khairpur village in Austagram upazila.
In Sunamganj, a lightning strike killed a college student who was tending to cows grazing at a Haor, or wetland, in Shalla Upazila around 7:30 am, said local police station chief Shafiqul Islam.
Another madrasa student was killed by lightning around 6:15 am in Netrokona, said Teosree Union Parishad member Motahar Hossain.
In Chandpur, Bishakha Rani Sarkar, 35, wife of Haripodo Sarkar of Nahara village in Kachua upazila of Chandpur district, died during rain coupled with thundershowers while collecting paddy from the field.
Sohel Rana, Kachua Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, said Bishakha might have died after being panicked by the lightning strike.
