Barguna Government College student Aysha Siddika Minny has given a confessional statement in a court over the murder of her husband Refat Shorif, according to police, reports bdnews24.com.

She communicated with the murderers and held meetings with the masterminds behind the fatal attack on Refat, police said when she was being quizzed in custody on Thursday.

On Friday afternoon, three days into her five-day remand, police took her to court where she gave the statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure or CrPC, Barguna Sadar Police Station Inspector Humayun Kabir, who is investigating the case, said.

Such statements recorded by the court in the course of investigation can be used as evidence during trial.

Inspector Humayun could not give details of Minny's statement to the court.

The judge, Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Sirajul Islam Gazi, ordered her into jail in the evening after recording the statement.

Barguna Superintendent of Police Md Maruf Hossain on Thursday said police found evidence of her involvement in the murder conspiracy.

UNB adds: A court in Barguna on Friday placed Rishan Farazi on a five-day remand over the killing of Rifat Sharif.

Barguna Senior judicial Magistrate Sirajul Islam Kazi passed the order when investigation officer of the case Humayun Kabir produced him before the court with a 7-day remand prayer.

Earlier on Thursday, police arrested Rishan, No. 3 accused in the case, from the district.

Rifat, 22, was attacked with sharp weapons near the main gate of Barguna Government College on June 26.

Rifat was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal where he died.

His wife Aysha Siddika Minni appeared to be trying to protect him during the broad daylight attack caught on surveillance camera.

Noyon Bond, the prime accused in the case, was killed in a reported gunfight with law enforcers on July 2.

Police arrested Minni on Tuesday night after a daylong interrogation. A court granted police five days to interrogate her in custody.

Apart from Minni, 13 suspects have so far been arrested.

Seven of them have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the murder.
