Dismissing the allegation of his involvement in Farmers Bank scandal, its former chairman Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP said on Monday three newspapers ran reports involving him in the irregularities with 'untrue and motivated information', reports UNB.

"They (newspapers) noted I (MK Alamgir) took commission from clients before the distribution of loans. I never faced such big untrue information in my 77 years of life," he said taking floor on point of order in the House.

MK Alamgir said nobody had ever been able to bring such an allegation against his activities though he was managing director of Shilpa Bank and chairman of Krish Bank and Shilpa Rin Sangstha and executive director of Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank in the past.

The former home minister dismissed three allegations the newspapers brought against him.

Shrugging off the allegation of taking 'commission' from clients, he said nobody can prove that any money entered his account in Farmers Bank from loanees, though the newspapers mentioned that he transferred Tk 13 crore to his bank account from a client's account on July 17 last.

"No such money entered my account from July 17 to subsequent 7-10 days," he said adding that such allegation is a barrier towards creating a healthy atmosphere in society.

Rejecting another allegation, the ruling party MP said during his tenure as chairman of the Farmers Bank, they did not process any loan without approval from the central bank.

A Bangladesh Bank observer was in the Board of Members of Farmers Bank for two years who also watched the activities, he said.
