CHATTOGRAM, Nov 28: Nine more individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent clashes between police and supporters of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das at the Chattogram court premises, which resulted in the death of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif.
The arrests were made during overnight raids in various areas under Kotwali police jurisdiction.
Earlier, the CMP had detained at least six people as suspects in the murder of lawyer Alif.
They were identified through video footage. The CMP has also detained 21 people for vandalism and assaults on police during the clashes on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the lawyers of Chattogram protested the murder of Alif and demanded punishment for those involved.
Addressing the human chain at Chattogram Court premises on Thursday, the lawyers raised serious concerns about the police's role in the incident.
They questioned how Chinmoy managed to use a megaphone (Hand Mike) inside the prison van and criticized the police's inaction during the clash.
