No BNP leader at Jamaat rally

FE REPORT | July 20, 2025 00:00:00

No BNP leader was invited to Jamaat-e-Islami's national rally held at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday, according to the BNP.

As a result, no representative from BNP joined the rally.

On Saturday afternoon, Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP's media cell, said, "Through our Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, we want to inform that BNP did not receive any official invitation to Jamaat-e-Islami's rally."

Jamaat's rally began at 2 PM at Suhrawardy Udyan and was chaired by the party's Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

This is the first time since the fall of the Hasina regime on August 5, 2024 that one major political party did not invite another major party to its rally.

Jamaat leaders confirmed they didn't invite any party that opposes the Proportional Representation (PR) system in elections.
