Newly elected DUCSU Vice-President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur has reiterated his demand for a fresh election to the Dhaka University Central Students' Union.

"There is no scope to misinterpret my earlier comment. I demand re-election and will stand by five panels (which contested the election) in favour of the demand of all general students," he said at a press conference at the Madhur Canteen on the DU campus on Sunday.

He also said, "The Prime Minister is the head of the government. I went to Ganobhaban at her invitation to show respect to her."

Leaders of the five panels-quota reform leaders Rashed Khan and Faruk Khan, independent VP candidate ARM Asifur Rahman, Bangladesh Student Federation (BSF) leader Ummey Habiba Benajir, and another VP candidate Aroni Semonty Khan-were present.

After Nur left the press conference, Aroni Semonty placed a five-point demand.

The demands include cancellation of DUCSU polls results and re-election, resignation of the vice chancellor and withdrawal of all cases.

The leaders also announced that they would boycott all classes and examinations today (Monday) to press home their demands and march towards the Vice-Chancellor's office at 11:00am.

At a separate press conference at the same venue, Progatisheel Chhatra Jote, an alliance of left-leaning student organisations and one of the five panels, also placed a five-point demand, which included a boycott of classes and examinations today (Monday).

They will also march towards the VC's office today (Monday).

Liton Nandi, general secretary of Bangladesh Student Union (BSU), announced the programmes.

Since the DUCSU election day, the five panels had been demanding fresh elections, protesting various irregularities.
