Oikyafront to form body in each constituency

Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront decided on Tuesday to form its coordination committee based on every constituency to carry out electioneering in favour of the candidates of 'Sheaf of Paddy', reports UNB.

BNP vice-chairman Barkatullah Bulu came up with the announcement after a joint meeting of Jatiya Oikyafront's central coordination and Dhaka city unit committees.

The meeting was held at its temporary office at Pritam Zaman tower in the city's Purana Paltan area.

"Jatiya Oikyafront candidates will be provided with the election symbol, 'Sheaf of Paddy', after December 8. We want to work unitedly for a lone candidate of Oikyafront in every seat to ensure the victory of the alliance," he said.

"We've decided to form Oikyafront's coordination committee based on every constituency and the committee will steer the election activities of the front's candidates," he said.

Replying to a question, Bulu said they have sent a letter to the leaders of their every district unit to immediately form the committee.

He said they are expecting that all the coordination committee will be formed before finalising Oikyafront's candidates for 300 seats.

The BNP leader said their leaders and activists will reach out to people in every area of the country to carry out electioneering in favour of Oikyafront's runners braving all the obstacles.

The senior leaders of BNP, Gano Forum, Nagorik Oikya and Krishak Sramik Janata League were present at the meeting.
