One dies of dengue, 352 new infections

Ctg reports its second death from Covid-19

The country recorded one more death from dengue and 352 new infections in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning, while Chattogram reported its second Covid-related fatality of the year alongside six new cases.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest dengue death was reported in Chattogram Division, outside the city corporation area. With this, the total number of dengue fatalities this year has risen to 31, while confirmed cases have climbed to 7,429.

Saturday's dengue caseload marks the highest single-day count so far in 2025, surpassing the previous peak of 288 cases recorded on 11 June, followed by 284 on 19 June.

Barishal Division (outside city corporation) accounted for the largest share of new cases, reporting 167 infections. Chattogram Division (non-city areas) logged 76 cases, Dhaka Division (non-city areas) 15, while Dhaka South and North City Corporations reported 43 and 19 cases respectively.

Khulna and Rajshahi Divisions (non-city areas) reported eight and 24 cases respectively. Currently, 882 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the country.

In 2024, dengue claimed 575 lives in Bangladesh, with over 101,000 confirmed cases.

On the other hand, Chattogram health authorities confirmed the port city's second Covid-19-related death of the year. Six new infections were detected from 71 tests conducted at six different laboratories.

According to Chittagong District Civil Surgeon, the total number of confirmed Covid cases in the district over the past 13 days now stands at 62. Of them, 55 patients are from Chattogram city, with the remaining seven from various upazilas.
