One killed, BNP candidate hurt in Chattogram gun attack

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 5 (UNB): A man was shot dead, and two others, including BNP candidate from Chattagram-8 constituency Ershad Ullah, were injured in an attack by armed miscreants during electioneering at East Bayezid Hamzarbagh (Chalitati) in Chattagram port city on Wednesday.
The deceased is Sarwar Babla (48). His full identity has not been confirmed yet.
Officer-in-charge of Bayezid Police Station Arifur Rahman said the gunmen appeared during electioneering of Ershad Ullah around 6:00 pm and opened fire on Ershad Ullah, leaving Sarwar dead on the spot and two others injured.
They were then taken to Evercare Hospital in Chattogram.
Another injured was identified as Shanto, a local leader of Jubo Dal.
"Police are trying to identify those involved in the attack," the OC said.
