Partial solar eclipse on Sunday, not visible from BD: ISPR

A partial solar eclipse will occur on Sunday, but it will not be visible from Bangladesh, reports BSS.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a press release on Thursday said that according to Bangladesh Standard Time (BST), the eclipse will begin at 11:29:48 pm on September 21, reach its maximum phase at 1:41:54 am on September 22 and end at 3:53:36 am.

It added that the total duration of the eclipse will be about 4 hours and 24 minutes.

ISPR said the eclipse would be visible from New Zealand, eastern Melanesia, southern Polynesia and western Antarctica.

According to the description of the central path of the eclipse, it will begin at 5:53:17 am (local time) in the South Pacific Ocean northeast of Samoa Islands, United States. The maximum phase will be seen at 10:13:39 am southwest of Dumont d'Urville Weather Station in Antarctica. The eclipse will end at 5:48:38 pm northwest of Alexander Island in Antarctica.

ISPR further informed that the maximum magnitude of the solar eclipse will be 0.855.
