Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has categorically said the people of Bangladesh were ready to resist unprovoked Indian aggression.

He told a rally of three affiliated organizations -- Juba Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal -- outside the party's central office before marching towards Indian High Commission for submitting a memorandum on Sunday.

They massed outside the embassy protesting the attack on Bangladesh's assistant high commission in Agartala, the desecration of the national flag and conspiracies to incite communal violence here.

Blasting Indian media propaganda against Bangladesh, Mr Rizvi said, "If the neighbouring India demands Chattogram, it must give back Bangla (Paschimbanga), Bihar and Odisha to Bangladesh."

About halting the issuance of Indian tourist visa to Bangladeshis, he said, "...By stopping visa, India has

indirectly helped us. No dollars will be diverted there."

"People had to spend a lot on travelling India. If they stop supplying consumer items, our people will be compelled to produce them locally. Our reserve will increase and it will give us benefits."

"India is out to help Sheikh Hasina reappear in Bangladesh politics, which is tantamount to showing aggression against Bangladesh and there is no such example in the world. India is trying to misguide the world by spreading falsehood against Bangladesh."

Hinting at India's lure of Bangladesh's delicious hilsa, Mr Rizvi said, "Many want our delicious hilsa. In fact, India always spreads malice against Bangladesh as it can't tolerate Bangladesh."

"Showing malicious attitude towards Bangladesh, India has sealed border and is thus trying to deteriorate the present bilateral relations with Bangladesh. it won't yield any good result for India," he cited.

Mr Rizvi further said that India was trying to humiliate brotherhood and goodwill among the people of Bangladesh, irrespective of their castes, creeds and religions by spreading lies about minority persecution.

He said most of the hospitals in Kolkata were facing shortages of patients, adding: "India lacks 40 per cent

sanitisation facility. How does India boasts?"

The fascist Sheikh Hasina suppressed the people during her rule and India supported her over the years.

Meanwhile, a six-member delegation from the party's affiliates handed a memorandum to Narpat Singh, the embassy's security officer and counsellor, around 1:00 pm.

Brig Gen Manmeet Singh Sabharwal, the defence attaché, was present.

At 11:30 am, the party organisations initiated a march towards the high commission from Nayapaltan.

Mr Rizvi inaugurated the march that police intercepted at Rampura Bridge. Later, six leaders submitted the memorandum.

"We don't believe in unrest. The Muslims of Bangladesh are peaceful and patient. We have no masters, only friends. We don't believe in aggression," said Juba Dal president Abdul Monayem Munna.

"We will stand united against any conspiracy against Bangladesh," added Jubo Dal general secretary Nurul Islam Nayan.
