Plastic granules and organic pigment are not dangerous or flammable items, according to a report of the Department of Explosives.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon disclosed this at a view exchange meeting with plastic businessmen and local residents at Chawkbazar in the city on Sunday.

"So, from now on, the plastic granules and organic pigment will remain out of the jurisdiction of the DSCC taskforce's ongoing drive against storage of chemicals," he said.

Bangladesh Plastic Businessmen Association (BPBA) organised the meeting where the mayor discussed the situation after the devastating fire incident that took place there on the night of February 20.

The meeting also discussed the ways to resolve the problems facing the locals after the blaze.

The mayor called on the plastic traders to have fire extinguishers, source of water and sand in place as a measure to prevent any fire incident.

He also said the DSCC taskforce will take legal action only if any businessman keeps stocks of chemical and flammable items, which are very dangerous for human lives.

President of BPBA Md Anwar Hossain and Chief Executive Officer of DSCC Mostafizur Rahman were present at the meeting.
