The Anti-discrimination Student Movement and also students of Dhaka University held a protest rally against the appointment of advisers without the involvement of the student community.
They accused the authorities concerned of dishonouring the self-sacrifice of hundreds of martyrs by inducting allies of the fascist regime into the government.
The protest began at the base of Raju Sculpture on the Dhaka university campus on Monday afternoon and concluded at the VC Square.
It demanded the immediate removal of "controversial individuals" appointed as advisers.
Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the student movement, uttered that those who revered Dhanmondi 32 as a sacred place were made advisers.
"Students and the public have made sacrifices for the overall welfare of the nation. If you think you can be advisers by exploiting the blood of students, workers, and common people, then you are mistaken."
"We want to know who recommended the rehabilitation of these pro-Awami League allies," continued the convener.
"What have those appointed as advisers contributed over the past 15 years? What is their history of struggle against fascism?" questioned Mr Hasnat.
"If you think these individuals can be rehabilitated through any settlement, then you are deceiving the students and the public."
"We have nothing to lose. After August 05, our lives are a bonus. We are not afraid of any threat. No decision should be made without the participation of students and citizens."
Coordinator Arif Sohel said, "You [interim government] are failing to meet public aspirations that emerged from the uprising. If this continues, it won't take us long to establish a new government."
"Our loyalty lies with the 2024 mass uprising, not with any specific government. Governments will come and go, but the spirit of the uprising will always remain strong," he uttered.
Coordinator Mahin Sarkar said, "Those who don't uphold Bangladesh's cultural and religious values and who revere Dhanmondi 32 as sacred, we show them the red card. We don't want such individuals on the advisory panel."
Regionalism is being used as an issue in the appointments. There is no adviser from North Bengal, even though the first martyr of this movement, Abu Sayeed, was from there, he added.
"Fascist allies of this government must resign immediately."
Abdul Hannan Masud, principal secretary of the movement, said, "Pro-AL and pro-Shahbagh fascists are being appointed as advisers, which is a betrayal of the blood of the wounded and martyrs."
"Yesterday's appointments were done without informing students and the public. These appointees must be removed immediately… Weekly reports of advisers' activities must be given..."
