Durbar Rajshahi beat Sylhet Strikers by 5 wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city on Monday, report agencies.

Chasing a target of 118 runs, Rajshahi reached their ultimate goal scoring the match-winner 118 runs for the loss of five wickets in 16.5 overs.

Ryan Burl contributed scoring the team highest 48 runs off 34 deliveries, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Besides, Akbar Ali (43) and opening batsman Jishan Alam (11) were the notable batsmen for Rajshahi reaching the double figures.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Jon-Russ Jaggesar took two wickets each and Ahsan Bhatti took one for Sylhet.

Earlier, Rajshahi's youngster SM Meherob claimed his career best 4-15 with his wily offspin to restrict Sylhet to just 117-9 in their crucial match.

Pace bowler Mrittunjoy Chowdhury who scalped 4-18 against Rangpur Riders just 24 hours ago, followed the performance with 3-33 to further derail Sylhet after they were put into bat first.

Mrittunjoy sliced the top-order in a display of swing bowling, reducing Sylhet to 19-3. Meherob then got into act by ripping through middle order in no time.

Ahsan Bhatti was the top-scorer for Sylhet with 25 while Zakir Hasan made 24. Sumon Khan was not out on 20, helping the side to propel past 100 which looked unlikely.
