Talk shows dominate AB Party chief's income

Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) chairman Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan Monju has disclosed an annual income of just over Tk 1.18 million, with television talk shows emerging as a major source of earnings.

The details were revealed in his affidavit submitted to the Election Commission along with his nomination papers for the Feni-2 constituency.

A lion's share, Tk 580,000, of his total income came from appearances on various television talk shows.

An analysis of the affidavit shows that, apart from talk shows, his main source of  income was business.

He earned Tk 600,000 from his profession. Mr Monju's annual income from shares, bonds, savings certificates and bank deposits amounted to Tk 3,143.

The AB Party leader reported having cash worth Tk 300,000 and bank deposits of Tk 693,216 in two banks. He also owns 15 bhori of jewellery.

The candidate owns 27 decimals of non-agricultural land in his ancestral village, valued at Tk 1.0 million.

According to the affidavit, he has borrowed Tk 1,539,436 from a non-resident Bangladeshi relative.
