BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has cautioned against certain individuals and groups frequently mentioned in social media and public discourse as figures the nation witnessed engaged in appalling acts in 1971, reports bdnews24.com.

He spoke virtually from London on Sunday during the inauguration of BNP's "Plan for Building the Nation".

Tarique said, "The people of the country saw them in 1971. Back then, they killed thousands to protect their own interests, just as tyrants slaughtered countless people before fleeing to preserve power."

Without naming any specific party or individual, he warned that those advocating "just watch them once" were recalling the very individuals responsible for mass atrocities and the violation of women's honour in 1971.

"We must remember this history," he added.

Addressing student leaders directly, Tarique emphasised the moral and religious responsibility to resist political manipulation.

"You must go door to door, explaining that listening to such people draws one closer to shirk [associating partner with God]. The rights over life, death, and destiny belong only to Allah. Anyone claiming otherwise misleads and misguides," he said.

He also condemned attempts to sell tickets or guarantees, widely understood to be for paradise, to acquire political advantage, stressing that commitments over what belongs solely to God constitute an infringement on faith.

"If you follow them, you too fall into shirk," he warned.

Throughout his extensive address, Tarique detailed ongoing conspiracies and challenges facing the party.

"Since Aug 5, I have repeatedly stated that the coming days will not be easy.
