Three entrepreneurs awarded

Three entrepreneurs have been honoured with Bonik Barta-BIDS Entrepreneurship Award this year.

The award winners are M Abul Kalam Azad, chairman of Azizu Recycling and E-Waste Company Limited, Habibur Rahman Jewel, chief executive officer of Moonlight Pet Flakes and Pet Strip, and M Mahmudul Hasan, chairman of rokomari.com.

They received the awards at a ceremony held at a city hotel on Tuesday.

Azizu Recycling is an e-waste management company that started its journey back in 2012. Currently, the company has an annual turnover of Tk 360 million.

Moonlight Pet Flakes is a plastic bottle recycler that has been exporting pet flakes and pet strip to India and China since 2012.

rokomari.com is an online bookshop which has a countrywide reader base of around 250,000.

Speaking at the award giving ceremony, Planning Minister MA Mannan said the government is working to create an enabling environment for businesses in the country.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that the entrepreneurs should be adequately recognised for their contribution to the economy.

Chairman of the National Board of Revenue Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the government is aiming to make the tax structure more business- and investment-friendly.

BIDS Director General KAS Murshid and the Editor of Bonik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud also spoke on the occasion.
