Special Eid services with homeward passengers departed stations and terminals in Dhaka on time on Friday, much to their expectation of a hassle-free travel to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with near and dear ones at their roots back home.
Trains bound for different destinations left the Kamalapur Railway Station on schedule.
A visit to the hub rail station, the FE found each platform at the station had trains parked in line, with some platforms accommodating additional coaches.
According to a Bangladesh Railway (BR) official, every train departed the station at its scheduled time on Friday.
Once a platform became vacant after the departure of a train, it was either used to park the next train or kept empty for incoming trains.
This well-managed and efficient process ensured the departure of all trains right on time, continued the official.
At the station, passengers said the days of wait for hours for a train were over now. They expressed satisfaction with the smooth travel experience this Eid.
They highly praised proper management of the rail authorities at the station.
"I travelled by train before with endless hassle. This time, the authorities seem much serious in delivering better and hassle-free service to passengers," said Jamal Hossain, an Ekata Express tripper.
"I'm travelling home with my family. I'm heading towards my in-laws' house now. After Eid, I'll visit my parents' house. The children are also very happy to go home after a long time," said Abdul Karim, another traveller.
About train schedules, Kamalapur Railway Station manager Shahadat Hossain told the FE, "By 10:30 am, 13 intercity trains had departed, all on schedule."
Railway men are not allowing any unauthorised passenger on board. In the past, one used to sit on another's seat. However, it is not possible this year.
"It's nice to travel home without any trouble by train," added Mr Hossain.
Meanwhile, launches also departed on Friday from the Dhaka river port or the Sadarghat launch terminal in the capital on time.
Visiting the terminal, the FE found that passengers were travelling hassle free as launch operators said they were not charging extras from passengers.
They said adequate security measures were taken by members of law-enforcing agencies at the launch terminal.
An official of the Parabat launch operator said they were strictly maintaining launch schedule.
Passengers talked to the FE, saying that they were not facing any trouble or hassle at the launch terminal.
Launches from Sadarghat are running on 38 routes on the occasion.
