The police made two arrests in the Badda double murder case while a Dhaka court granted remand for two over another double murder at Kakrail, report agencies.
Police arrested a couple from Mohammadnagar area of Khulna city early Friday in connection with the killing of a man and his daughter in Dhaka's Badda area.
The arrestees are Shahin Mallik, 22, and his wife Masuma, 20, who were sublet tenants at the victim's residence.
They fled the house after the double murder.
On a tip-off, a joint team from the Labanchara Police Station and Badda Police Station conducted a drive at the house of Shahin's brotheraround 5:00am and arrested them, said Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of the local police station.
Later, the arrestees were sent to Dhaka, said the OC.
On Thursday, Jamil Sheikh, 38, and his daughter Nusrat Sheikh, 9, were found dead at their rented house at Moynarbagh in Badda area of the capital.
Police had detained Jamil's wife Arjina from the spot for interrogation.
Shahin had an alleged extramarital affair with Arjina, said Ashraful Kabir, senior assistant commissioner (Badda Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court has granted police six days to grill businessman Abdul Karim and his third wife Sharmin Akter Mukta over the killing of his first wife and son at Kakrail in Dhaka.
Metropolitan Magistrate Khorshed Alam ordered the remand after hearing a police plea for 10 days to quiz them on Friday, Court Police Recording Officer Mozammel Hossain told a news agency.
