Two shot at Gulistan

Two people including an alleged mugger were shot in the city's Gulistan area on Saturday afternoon.

They were identified as pedestrian Sujauddin Talukdar, 37, and mugger Jahidul Islam Shohag, 40.

When contacted, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Paltan Police Station Md Mahmudul Huq said two muggers attempted to rob the victim in broad daylight in the east of Gulistan Park near Mayor Hanif Flyover.

Shohag and other mugger riding on a motorcycle tried to rob Sujauddin who was walking on the roadside.

"At one point of the scuffle between Sujauddin and Shohag, both of them received injuries when the later opened fire," the OC told the FE.

Later, locals took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) emergency unit for treatment.

On information, police officials reached the hospital around 1.45 pm.

Police arrested the mugger based on information from some eyewitnesses, said the OC. Both were undergoing treatment.

A move was underway to lodge a lawsuit against the alleged criminal till filing of this report at 7:30 pm.
