Vit A-plus Campaign starts on Saturday

The 15-daylong National Vitamin A-plus Campaign 2021 will begin on Saturday to strengthen immune system of the children aged between six months and five years.

National Nutrition Services (NNS) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will implement the campaign as per the decision made in a meeting of its Steering Committee for Nutrition Implement on May 24, a press release said

According to it, the campaign will continue between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm every day by ensuring health guidelines to help contain the spread of novel coronavirus outbreak.

During the period, the children aged between six to 12 months will be given blue capsules, while the children aged between one to five years will be given red capsules.

The campaign will be run at all EPI centres and permanent healthcare centres in addition to their regular activities.

Besides, the capsules will also be given at community clinics and other public healthcare centres across the country.

There will be no mobile vaccination centres under the campaign this year due to the Covid pandemic, the statement also said.

All immunisation centers will ensure health guidelines, including wearing mask, hand sanitisation and maintaining social distance for the visiting children and their guardians.
