Woman dies in Dhanmondi building fire

A woman who fell sick after breathing in smoke when a fire broke out in a high-rise in the Dhanmondi area died on Saturday morning, reports UNB.
The unidentified victim, who appeared to be around 65 years old, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Firefighters rescued her and Shaheda, 12, a domestic help, and took them to hospital.
Both had suffered smoke inhalation, said Abdul Latif, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station.
Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the elderly woman died around 11am, shortly after she was taken there.
