Women in business: A celebration of resilience, strength & growth

Since the United Nations officially began celebrating International Women's Day in 1975, the occasion has gained global significance, with nations worldwide marking the day through various initiatives. Under the theme AccelerateAction, the International Women's Day 2025 was celebrated on March 8, emphasizing the importance of advancing gender equality. In line with this global movement, Bangladesh also observed the day through various programs and initiatives, says a press release.

To commemorate this occasion, the renowned business establishments, M/s Rafiq Enterprise, M/s Azizur Rahman, M/s Sheikh Brothers, M/s Akram Enterprise, M/s Joardder Traders, M/s Sanaullah Traders and Desh Trade Link, took proactive steps to empower women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level. They celebrated International Women's Day by recognising and honouring their female retailers for their invaluable contributions to their businesses. They extended their appreciation to 512 impressive female retailers, by expressing their gratitude with care packages filled with essential food items, beauty, and skincare products. To further highlight their journeys, a trade booklet featuring their inspirational success stories was circulated, showcasing the resilience, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit of these women who have built thriving businesses despite challenges.

M/s Rafiq Enterprise, M/s Azizur Rahman, M/s Sheikh Brothers, M/s Akram Enterprise, M/s Joardder Traders, M/s Sanaullah Traders and Desh Trade Link proudly presented the prestigious 'Agrani Award', recognising women who have made significant contributions to entrepreneurship and women's empowerment. In the 'Contributions to Women's Empowerment' category, Kalpona Saha, Sufia Begum, Shraboni Biswas, Mst. Doli Khatun, Mst. Minu, and Mst. Suborna Khatun received awards. The awards were presented by their respective representatives, marking a proud moment in acknowledging the achievements of these women. Each of them also received a personalised framed photograph capturing a memorable moment with their dear ones, making this celebration even more special.

Through this initiative, M/s Rafiq Enterprise, M/s Azizur Rahman, M/s Sheikh Brothers, M/s Akram Enterprise, M/s Joardder Traders, M/s Sanaullah Traders and Desh Trade Link reaffirmed their commitment to fostering women's entrepreneurship, accelerating progress, and shaping a more inclusive business landscape.
