Writ seeks judicial inquiry into Nusrat murder

A writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking its directives to form a judicial inquiry commission to investigate the murder of Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, reports UNB.

Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akond filed a petition with the HC seeking it directives to take necessary steps to send the case to the Speedy Trial Tribunal immediately and provide compensation to Nusrat's family.

The writ also sought necessary action against the law enforcers who were involved in showing negligence for protecting Nusrat.

Besides, it also sought order to issue a rule for taking necessary steps to handover the cases to the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) for proper investigation.

Yunus Ali Akond also requested the HC to seek the progress of the trial proceeding of journalist couple Sagar-Runi, Tanwir Muhammad Taqi, Sohagi Jahan Tonu and Mahmuda Khanam Mitu murder cases.

Meanwhile report from Feni adds, a court here on Wednesday placed Rafi's classmate Kamrun Nahar Moni on a five-day remand for her suspected involvement in the murder of Nusrat.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Soraf Uddin Ahmmed passed the order after inspector Md Shah Alam of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), also investigation officer of the case, produced her before the court seeking a 10-day remand.

Meanwhile, members of PBI on Wednesday arrested an accused and a suspect in a case filed over the murder of Nusrat from the capital.

The arrestees are Abdul Kader, an accused in the case a student of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa and Shariful Islam alias Sharif, 20, a murder suspect and a student of the same madrasa.
