Young girl kills self

A young girl has reportedly committed suicide in the capital's Jurain area early Sunday.

Family sources said the girl killed herself as her mother rebuked her for talking on cell phone in the wee hours on the day.

Pinky Akter, the 18-year old girl, was living with her parents Osman Mia and Selina Akter in a rented flat in Jurain area.

She hailed from Jazeera Upazila in Shariatpur, said Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police camp Sub-Inspector Bacchu Mia.

Referring to the girl's uncle, he said Pinky hanged herself from the ceiling as she couldn't tolerate her mother's admonition.

The body of the girl was kept in the DMCH morgue for autopsy, he informed.
