Enjoy these places this winter

RISANAN NID | October 23, 2024 12:00:00

Waiting for winter all year round just to get lost in the serenely mild morning of a hillside- is probably on your bucket list. Traveling in the winter is the best because there are no slippery slopes, no heatwaves, and no calamities other than shivering chills. But that's thrilling in a way. Winter in Bangladesh is something else with her mystique vibe. Since you are here to have recommendations on where to go into the winter blues, let me help you with it.

Usually, late October to early February is considered a cold travel season. The first place that can be thought of is Sreemangal.

Sreemangal, the tea capital of Bangladesh, is surrounded by tea gardens, lakes, hills, jungles, and fruit gardens. Notable destinations in Sreemangal Upazila would be over 40+ tea gardens, Lawachara National Park, Madhabkunda Waterfall, Hum Hum Waterfall, Razkandi Forest, Madhabpur Lake- the only habitat of Great White Bellied Heron, Baikka Beel, Sitesh Babur Zoo, Balishira Resort and other luxury establishments. Try their local fresh tea and sweets as well.

You can comfortably travel there with a budget of 4000-5000 taka. The more luxury you want, the more cash you'll need. The cost might be lower if you walk and explore more organically. Remember to keep 3-4 comfortable shoes and mosquito repellent cream.

Mohamaya Lake

A wanderlust's bliss is Mohamaya Lake. It's the second largest manmade lake in Bangladesh, in Mirsarai, Chittagong.

In the winter, when the temperature drops, a deep green blanket wraps around the aquatic blue. Some side spots are mountain caves, rubber dams, the Mohamaya chara irrigation project, and Mohamaya Eco Park.

Eco Park has no food facilities, but you can eat at Thakur Dighi Bazar and Sitakundu Bazar. Activities you can do here are kayaking, taking family boat rides, camping under the starry sky, and hiking in Chandranath Hill, an hour's drive from Sreemangal. Remember to go to Napittachora Waterfalls.

Cox's Bazar

The longest natural sea beach, another named Palongki (yellow flower), Cox's Bazar, is an essential choice to visit any time on vacation.

It would help if you covered these places. At the same time, you see- Laboni Point, Inani Beach, Kolatoli Beach, Himchari Waterfall, St. Martin's Island, Safari Park, Sonadia Island- turtle breeding ground, Aggameda Khyang Monastery- an ancient Buddhist sacrilegious place, Kana raja's cave, and Radiant Fish World- a large fish aquarium.

You can try surfing, horse riding, speedboat riding, and Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive here. From 5-star luxury hotels to local guesthouses, Cox's Bazar has everything according to your budget. You have to try seafood here and collect souvenirs. But beware of the scammers. Use sunscreens on the beach.

Kuakata

Another panoramic go-to sea beach for Bangladeshis is Kuakata. The advantage of traveling to Kuakata is that it has more privacy than Cox's Bazar.

You'll get less crowded in winter. You can go sightseeing, swimming, fishing, roaming in trollers or sunbathing. It's a heavenly pleasure. Kuakata is a perfect blend for both pilgrimage and wanderlust.

Coconut trees on sandy beaches will give you a different vibe from Cox's Bazar. Its underrated breathtaking view wins every heart of tourists. You must check out Kuakata National Park, Forest of Fatra, a protected mangrove forest known as the 'second Sundarban.'

Well of Kuakata- at the beginning of Rakhine village, Keranipara near Kuakata Beach is an ancient well near a Buddhist monastery. In front of the ancient well is an ancient Seema Buddhist Vihara, which contains a meditating Buddha image made of Ashta dhatu weighing about 14 hundred Kilograms.

Mishripara Buddhist Monastery, about eight kilometers east of Kuakata Beach, is home to ethnic communities; it has a Buddhist monastery that houses the most prominent Buddhist statue in the subcontinent.

Sundarbans

October to February is the best time to travel through the mysterious mangrove. You must hire a boat to cover rivers and creeks in Sundarbans to check out exotic birds and plants.

If you're lucky, who knows, you'll see the majestic king of Sundarbans, Royal Bengal Tiger. Be sure to check out Sundarbans Tiger Reserve for that.

Of course, visit the Bhagabatpara crocodile project and Sajnekhali Wildlife Sanctuary. You can reach Hiron point and move in a launch.

At the Dobanki Camp and Watchtowers, see how they work to improve the forest. They're indeed incredible. Deers passing by, crocodiles peeking through water, monkeys hanging on the trees playing, unknown birds chirping and a heavy winter breeze, suddenly a deep growl echoing through thick air- no, you're not in a dream, you're in the mystical forest of the south. For accommodation, seek good resorts that are reputable and safe from delinquents.

Birulia Golap Gram

Do you want to stroll across a little fragment from heaven? Do you want to feel purified from all negativities in your life? Golap gram in winter will give you a tranquil experience amidst all the bloomed roses. This village is in Savar, so you can quickly go on a one-day tour. You can buy some plants for yourself as well.

Panam Nagar

Panam City, the old capital of the ancient Bengal Delta, will walk you through our glorious past. The lost town perhaps took the former glamor with it, but it is the pride of our golden days.

It's a widespread place for people living near Dhaka to visit. Check out the museum located in Panam City and observe the relics and their ways of life-another good place to pay for a one-day trip in winter.
