0.5m Rohingyas get registered in seven Ukhia, Teknaf camps

COX'S BAZAR, Nov 14: Registration of more than 0.5 million Rohingyas has been completed in seven camps out of 12 in Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas of the district.

According to official sources, Passport and Immigration Department registered 5,12,058 Rohingyas until Monday. Additional District Magistrate Khaled Mahmud confirmed it. Registration of the Rohingyas is going on in Balukhali, Kutupalong-1, Kutupalong-2, Nayapara, Thainkhali-1, Thainkhali-2 and Shamlapur refugee camps.

Registration work started on September 11. During registration Social Welfare department found 36,373 orphan children in 12 refugee camps.

Meanwhile, influx of the Rohingyas from Myanmar is still continuing. According to sources, about 1,000 new Rohingyas entered Bangladesh through Anjumanpara and Shahaporir Dip border points on Monday and Tuesday.

The newly arrived Rohingyas said they reached Shahaporir Dip of Teknaf by bamboo-made rafts crossing the Naf River on Monday night.
