33 bank A/Cs of Munni Saha, family frozen

A special court in Dhaka on Wednesday ordered the agencies concerned of the government to freeze 33 bank accounts, holding Tk 181.6 million, owned by journalist Munni Saha and her family members in connection with graft allegations against them.

The other family members are--- Munni Saha's husband Md Kabir Hossain, her mother Appel Rani Saha and her brother Tapon Kumar Saha.

Judge of the Senior Special Judge's Court in Dhaka, Md Jakir Hossain Galib, passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Earlier on the day, ACC Deputy Director Md Yasir Arafat submitted a petition before the court seeking a freeze on the accounts.

In the petition, the ACC official said they came to know from reliable sources that the accused were trying to transfer and launder the money held in the accounts.
