47,000 women donate 1.4m blood units thru QF in 22 yrs

Over 47,000 female donors registered with Quantum Foundation (QF) have donated nearly 1.4 million units of blood through the Foundation in the past 22 years, reports BSS.

The disclosure was made during a reception organised on Thursday in honour of 300 blood donors who got entry into the golden, silver and lifelong clubs of the QF for donating blood 25, 10 and three times so far respectively.

Held at Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) in the city, the function was attended by Women and Children Affairs Secretary Mohammad Hasanuzzaman Kallol as the chief guest.

Adviser to the QF and Consultant of Banking and Training Sukumar Chakrabarti presided over the event while Director (motivation of blood donor programme) of QF delivered welcome speech.

The secretary said the voluntary blood donors play significant role in giving new life to whom they donate blood.

The donors will remain alive within the person who carries their blood for a long time.

The speakers said a total of 47,661 female donors have donated blood in Quantum lab and 376,365 females received 537,582 unit bags of blood.
