6 muggers held in Gazipur

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested six suspected members of a mugging syndicate along with a truck and a microbus from Tongi of Gazipur city on Sunday night, reports UNB.

Based on secret information, a special team of RAB-1 conducted a drive in Masimpur area of Tongi on Sunday night and arrested the gangsters, said sources at the RAB headquarters.

The arrestees are Alamgir Hossain, 33, Moshiur Rahman alias Mosharraf, 29, Sohel Miah alias Dilip, 43, Md Saddam Hossain, 22, Mushfiqir Rahman alias Kuranu, 26, and Lablu alias Shimul, 27.

The elite force also recovered a microbus and a truck, which were used for committing snatching, a knife and Tk 43,000 from their possession.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested criminals revealed that they used to pick passengers from Abdullahpur in Dhaka city and then loot their belongings after taking them to a secluded place.
