The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday filed separate cases against Abdul Jabbar, a former lawmaker of Satkkhira-2, and Md. Mahbub Hossain, his son, for accumulating wealth illegally.

ACC assistant director (AD) Md. Masudur Rahman filed the cases with Ramna Police Station, its public relation officer (PRO) Pranab Bhattacharya told The FE.

In January 2014, ACC initiated probe against Abdul Jabbar along with six other ruling party politicians for allegedly accumulating unusual wealth, and found through inquiry that Jabbar accumulated wealth illegally.

On February 27, ACC interrogated Jabbar on charge of acquiring wealth illegally. As part of the inquiry, ACC served notices on March 16, asking wealth statements of Abdul Jabbar, his wife Firoza Begum, and sons Faruk Hossain, Sayed Hossain and Mahbub Hossain. Later, he submitted the wealth statements of his family members.
