ACC nabs Laksham UZ health complex accountant

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) nabbed an accountant of Laksham Upazila Health Complex in Comilla district on Tuesday for embezzling Tk 5.48 million government funds.

Mofizul Islam Kaderi, hailed from Chauddagram upazila of the district, was detained from Comilla Housing area by an ACC team, said ACC public relations official Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

Deputy director of ACC's Integrated District Office in Comilla Md Abul Kalam Azad filed a case in this regard with Laksham police station.

According to the case statement, Mofizul embezzled Tk 1,971,397 collected as user fees at the upazila health complex and Tk 3,518,140 collected as electricity bills.

The accountant misappropriated the money which was supposed to be deposited with the state coffer, the statement added.
