ACC summons five DGHS staffers to quiz over graft

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday summoned five staffers of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) over graft allegations against them.

The summon notices were issued to Md Belayet Hossain, lab attendant at Faridpur TB Segregation Hospital; Liakat Hossain, accounts officer at National Asthma Centre, Rafiqul Islam, driver of DGHS; Bulbul Islam, upper division clerk at DGHS; and Shariful Islam, office assistant at Khulna Medical College and Hospital.

The individuals were asked to appear before the commission headquarters in the city's Segunbagicha on January 22 (Tuesday), according to ACC sources.

The allegations against the DGHS staffers include embezzlement of crores of taka, money laundering and accumulation of wealth from unknown sources, according to the notice signed by ACC deputy director Md Shamsul Alam.
