ACC to sue former city corporation official, his wife

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday approved filing of a case against a former additional chief engineer of Dhaka City Corporation and his wife for amassing wealth of Tk 37 million from unknown sources.

The accused are engineer Md Abdus Salam and his wife Reshma Majumder, said ACC public relations official Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

ACC Assistant Director Mujibur Rahman has been investigating the case.

During primary investigation, the commission found the couple earned Tk 37,049,364 which is not compatible with their legal source of income.

The commission will file the case soon according to section 27 (1) of Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and section 109 of the Penal Code, informed Mr Bhattacharjee.
