Accused gives confession, lands in jail

The lone accused in the case filed over the killing of Wari minor girl Samia Afrin Saima after rape reportedly confessed before a Dhaka court on Monday to his crime, reports UNB.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari recorded the confessional statement of Harun-or-Rashid, 25, when police produced him before his court, said Mohammad Arjun, an inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police. Detectives on Sunday arrested Harun from the Dabordanga area in Cumilla district.

Saima, younger daughter of Abdus Salam, was found dead at a flat on the 8th floor of a building in Wari on July 05.

According to the family, Saima came out of their 6th-floor flat at around 06:30 pm on Friday for going to their neighbour's flat to play with her friend.

However, they did not find her at the neighbour's flat at around 07:30 pm which prompted a hectic search for the minor girl.

Later, she was found dead at the kitchen of a flat on the 8th floor which basically remained locked all the time.
