Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) warned on Thursday that legal action would be taken, if any banned organisations, including Hizbut Tahrir, tried to hold rally and distribute leaflets anywhere in the capital.
"Hizbut Tahrir, as per the existing law of the country, is a banned organisation. The government banned Hizbut Tahrir on October 22, 2009 as per the Anti Terrorism Act 2009," said a DMP handout.
"The DMP will take stern legal action if the banned Hizbut Tahrir tries to hold rally, meeting or distribute leaflets," it added.
