Sales of advance train and BRTC bus tickets started Monday ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The advance train tickets are being sold at five different places in Dhaka: Kamalapur, Airport, Tejgaon, Banani, and Fulbaria (Old Railway Bhaban).
People were seen in queue collecting advance train tickets for August 7 from 9 counters at Kamalapur Railway Station at 09:00 am.
Some 50 per cent advance tickets are being sold online through the BR app, SMS and railway website to facilitate smooth Eid travel for the holidaymakers.
People can collect rail tickets of August 8, 9, 10 and 11 on July 30, 31 and August 1 and 2 respectively, railway sources said.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujon visited the Kamalapur Railway Station to monitor the ticket sales.
Besides, advance return ticket sales for trains will start August 06 and will continue until August 09.
Meanwhile, the state-run Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will start its 'Eid Special Service' on August 08 (Thursday) which might be the last office day, according to the official sources.
The tickets are being purchased from all the BRTC depots including Motijheel, Gabtoli and Kallyanpur of the capital and also from Gazipur, Joarsahara, Uthali and Narayanganj.
A total of 900 buses will be added to the present fleet of the BRTC in the capital and other parts of the country.
Apart from those, 40 to 50 buses will be kept reserved to address any unprecedented incident during the festival period.
The private bus operators, however, began selling their advance Eid tickets on Friday (July 26) morning.
