Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar has criticised those who raise prices of daily commodities unfairly, saying they would no longer be spared, reports UNB.
The adviser also urged the students who protested during the July uprising to join in fighting against unjust price hikes.
She made the comments while speaking at the 'Inauguration of the Sale of Milk, Eggs and Meat at Affordable Prices in Ramadan' programme at the Siraj Mia Memorial Model School premises in the capital's Merul Badda on Friday.
From the 1st to the 28th of Ramadan, essential products will be sold at affordable prices at 25 locations across Dhaka, including areas that were active during the July protests and slum areas.
At the inauguration, it was announced that dressed broiler meat will be sold at Tk 250 per kg, pasteurized milk at Tk 80 per liter, eggs at Tk 114 per dozen, and beef at Tk 650 per kg.
The initiative is supported by the Department of Livestock's Livestock and Dairy Development Project, Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council, and other stakeholders like dairy companies and local farmers.
