Another member of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) Election Commission (EC) has stepped down, further deepening the crisis surrounding the long-awaited polls.
Professor Rezwana Karim Snigdha, a faculty member of the Anthropology Department and representative of the Bangabandhu Teachers' Council in the Social Science Building Committee, announced her resignation at 2:00pm on Saturday.
Her decision came less than 24 hours after Professor Mafruhi Sattar, an EC member, resigned on Friday night, citing unresolved complaints of irregularities during the election and continuation of vote counting despite mounting objections.
The successive resignations have raised questions over transparency and credibility of the JUCSU polls, which took place after 33 years.
